Once a building has been made electrically more efficient there are various technologies that can be invested in to decarbonise its electricity supply and make that supply cheaper and more reliable.

Renewable generation of electricity takes energy from natural sources. These sources are not depleted by the production of the electricity. Electricity that is generated from these sources reduces the amount bought from the electricity grid. Often the electricity generated from these sources is seasonal or has variable timing that may not correspond with when the building is occupied, so it is worth considering electricity storage to maximise the decarbonisation and investment potential of these technologies.
